Tracking our impact
We track all mileage for our service vehicle: travel to service locations; to pick up parts and materials; to drop off used oil, recyclable materials, and waste; etc.
​
Each quarter we calculate our carbon emissions by adding up all those miles and converting that sum to kilograms of CO2 emitted.

Based on 8.887 kg CO2 / gal of gasoline.

Choosing Carbon Removal Methods & Organizations
We have focused on organizations whose carbon removal and sequestration processes are highly vetted, traceable, have permanence, and a guaranteed net-negative impact on atmospheric CO2.

We now split our carbon offset giving ​into two methods of carbon removal: biochar and direct-air capture with permanent underground storage.
​
The two organizations that meet our strong criteria and that we have teamed with are Puro.Earth and Charm Industrial. (More about these organizations below.)

Cost & Transparency
Each quarter, Mobile Oil Vermont calculates total emissions used in all service-based driving, and finds its total carbon emissions.
​
To fund this, we assess a $0.10 / mile carbon offset fee and cover the rest of the money needed to verifiably offset our emissions using business revenue.

All our miles traveled, our gasoline used, our calculated kg of CO2 emitted, the price of removal per ton CO2 via these organizations, the receipts of purchases, and all other numbers and certificates are publicly shared in a quarterly report published to our website.
